Learn24 Youth Training

The core purpose of Vision and Dreams Project is to train youth in vocational trades. In order to engage with them professionally and according to current best practices, Vision and Dreams Project participated in the D.C. Learn 24 Youth Development program: a series of courses designed to equip youth workers with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to promote safe, comprehensive, and productive engagement.

Our first training was held on July 1st at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library.

The training provided an asset-based approach to working with youth and included a group goal-setting exercise that led to refining our focus on the process of youth development.

We learned the most effective youth development process facilitates acquiring life skills, affirms individual purpose and value, and integrates the impact of brain development on personal identity. We concluded the training strategizing about how Vision and Dreams Project can implement this knowledge into our core values and methodology.
